Once upon a time there was a prince in a rich
kingdom. His father the king, wanted him to marry. He gave him the freedom to
marry any girl he likes on condition that she would be a princess. The prince
travelled around the kingdom searching fo r a princess. He met a lot of
beautiful girls who said they were fr om royal families. When he made inquiries,
he found out they weren't telling the truth. He went back to the palace a nd was
very sad because he didn't succeed in finding a suitable wife. His parents were
also sad fo r his failure. The next evening, there was a terrible sto r m. The sky
was cloudy a nd
lightening flashed. It was raining heavily. Suddenly, they heard a loud knock
on the palace doo r . The soldier in charge of the doo r opened it. He found a
beautiful girl at the doo r . She was wet
a nd cold. She told him she was a princess a nd asked him if she could find
shelter in the palace. The soldier took the girl to the queen who wanted to
make sure she was really a princess. She o r dered the servant to make a bed fo r
her a nd put a pea under the mattress. Her mother had told her that any princess
couldn't sleep if there was a pea under her mattress. The next mo r ning, the queen asked the girl
how she slept. The girl complained that she couldn't sleep because there was
something in the bed that made it uncomfo r table. The queen was happy to find
a beautiful princess in her palace. The prince happily agreed to marry the
unexpected princess.
